Block Prints from the Heart
I have been a resident of Southwest Colorado for over 30 years and have been fortunate to be able to explore and draw inspiration for my block prints from years of exploration and observation.
Bio/Resume
Following graduation with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988, Amy moved to the Southwest where her work has reflected the wilderness landscapes and Western native wildlife. She has been represented by the McNair Gallery and Golden West Gallery in Telluride during the 1990s. In the early 2000s, she opened her own fine art gallery, Grogan Fine Art in Silverton, Colorado. In 2006 she sold the gallery and moved to Mancos, Colorado to a small farm where she has her printmaking studio at the base of Mesa Verde NP. In 2010 she had a solo, sold out show of her block printed work at the Petite Galerie du Musee in La Brigue, France. She has been commissioned to design a block print of the Twilight Peaks with the San Juan Mountains Association for their “Wild for the Weminuche” wilderness campaign. She has also created commissions with the Mountain Studies Institute and Rocky Mountain Wild. In 2019 Amy was awarded an art residency with the Pike Isabel National Forest near Buena Vista and has done art residencies with Canyons of the Ancients National Monument and the San Juan National Forest. In April 2023 Amy participated in a 3 week residency with Capitol Reef National Park. In conjunction with the residency she was invited to give a presentation at the Entrada Institute in Torrey, Utah which was videotaped for their archives. In June 2023, she had an exhibition at the Henderson Fine Arts Center at San Juan College in Farmington, NM with two of her block prints being purchased for the College’s permanent collection. Currently for February and March of 2024, Amy is exhibiting a collection of 20 recent Southwestern block printed landscapes at the Cortez Cultural Center in Cortez, Colorado.
